WHO IS MADALYNE HEIKEN?Hello! I am Madalyne (Maddie) Heiken. I have just graduated from the University of Denver with a BA in Theatre and Criminology and a minor in Leadership Studies. I am pursuing a Master's of Curriculum and Instruction from the Morgridge College of Education. I work to integrate my passions for art, education, and advocacy in everything I do. This summer, I am working with the DU Prison Arts Initiative (DU PAI) on a production at a Colorado correctional facility. I will also be working part-time with Mirror Image Arts in grant reporting and program evaluation. I am most excited to enter my graduate program full-time and begin my teaching clinical. In the future, I hope to continue disrupting the school-to-prison pipeline through policy work and educating communities on the impacts of the criminal legal system for young people. |

SOAK
A project that is near and dear to my heart is SOAK written by Connor Rodenbeck. It is a devised piece that was inspired by a piece of writing my close friend wrote for one of his collegiate English courses. I loved the prose and poetry so much that I worked to produce it as a one-act play. I received funding from the University of Denver Partners in Scholarship grant, and I was able to work with a group of diverse designers and actors to bring the show to life. You can watch below!
